It is important to take care with your child’s hair as damage that is done to it when they are younger can often have an effect on their hair when they are older. Regular cuts can help get rid of split ends and keep it looking fresh. If your child is unsure about having their hair cut, let them have a look through some pictures with you and find styles they like. It is important to remember that if it is long they will still need to be able to tie it back for school.
Try to let your child’s hair dry naturally as much as you can as constant blow drying can cause the hair to dry out and will eventually damage it. It is advisable to use a conditioner on children’s hair especially if it is thick. You can get conditioner which is specially designed for children and wont’ sting if it gets in their eyes. It is not recommended to colour your child’s hair until they are at least 14 years old.
Brush your child’s hair with a soft brush and use a comb or detangle brush to get rid of any knots. Try and show your child how they can take care of their own hair and always make sure to be on the lookout for lice.
