Have you considered eyelash extensions?

Posted on June 9, 2021 at 12:09 pm

Beauty treatments are on the increase possibly due to the lifting of restrictions and people wanting to pamper themselves a little. There are always a wide range of beauty treatments on offer and finding out which ones suit you is often a bit of trial and error. Some people swear by having their eyebrows waxed and tinted or a spray tan every other week whereas others may only do those things when they are going on holiday or have a special occasion such as a wedding.

Eyelash extensions is becoming increasingly popular and many beauty salons and individuals are offering this treatment. They often offer at least two different types of lashes such as Classic lashes and Russian. Russian lashes are very thick and look quite dramatic, but if you are after something that looks a little more natural, then classic is the way to go.

The beauty therapist should be able to advise you on what sort of lashes best suits your face. They will also select the right lash length and curl for you depending on the shape of your eye and your natural lashes. Each extension is glued to an individual lash and will over time fall off. You can usually wait two to three weeks for them to be infilled.

Are henna brows worth it?

Posted on May 28, 2021 at 9:55 am

There are constantly new products coming to market within the beaty industry. These products often claim to make miracles happen and often unfortunately these claims are simply not founded. Eyebrows and lashes has been an important part of many peoples beauty routine for some years now, but recently there has been a trend in having eyelash extensions and HD or enhancing brows.

One treatment that is available is Henna brows. Henna is a type of semi permanent dye that is traditionally used to create temporary tattoos. It is also known as Mehndi and is said to bring good luck which is why many Indian brides wear it on their wedding day.

Henna brows involves painting the eyebrows with a henna dye and leaving it on for a period of time. After the dye gets wiped off and the skin has been tinted along with the lashes of the eye brow. This can cost between £23-£45 each time and the dye on the skin is likely to last about 3 -7 days and about 4-5 weeks on the lashes. It doesn’t appear to last much longer than regular dye but some people are saying it is less harmful than traditional brow dyes.

Hair removal-is there an easier way to get smooth legs?

Posted on September 22, 2020 at 12:47 pm

The majority of women in the UK remove the hair on their legs on a regular basis using a variety of methods but what are the advantages and disadvantages of these techniques?

Shaving is probably the simplest method and is used by many women. Some prefer to use a razor and shaving foam in the bath or shower whilst others prefer an electric razor. The advantages are that it is quick and easy, but the disadvantages are that it is easy to cut yourself whilst shaving and the hair grows back quickly. Depilatory creams are similar to shaving in that they remove hair at the surface of the skin, but they may not be suitable if your skin is sensitive.

Some women use an epilator that plucks the hair out using a rotating head. Although painful initially, as the hair grows back at different paces subsequent sessions are not as painful and the amount of hair that grows back is reduced.

A new trend in hair removal works by using intense pulsed light or IPL on the legs. The unit sends a pulse of light down the hair follicle disabling hair growth. This method is now much faster than it used to be but is better used for facial or underarm hair.

As we get older many of us worry about the effects of aging on our hair and skin. Overtime you my find that your hair becomes more fragile and starts to thin and that your skins starts to look dull and tired. There are a huge number of different moisturisers on the market that aim to help promote healthy skin and shampoos and conditioners which claim to do the same for your hair.

Vitamins are another way in which you can help improve you complexion and hair and help by working from within. Many vitamins have an effect on hormone levels which are often knocked out of whack as we start to age.

Vitamin A serves as an antioxidant and can be great for those looking to rejuvenate their skin. Some of the best foods to eat to get vitamin A are sweet potatoes, carrots and spinach.

Vitamin C is great for our bodies as it helps create collagen, a type of connective tissue that keeps our skin firm. Many people choose to take vitamin C supplements but it can be found in foods like broccoli, strawberries and bell peppers.

For hair, the best vitamin you can take is a vitamin B called Biotin. Other B-vitamins help create red blood cells, which carry oxygen and nutrients to the scalp and hair follicles this occurs naturally in a variety of foods.

Moisturisers are a very important step to healthy skin

Posted on March 5, 2018 at 11:30 am

With day to day life taking a toll on or hair and skin, it is important to take time out to put a bit back in to ensure that we look after our hair and bodies. Some people have a strict skin routine and will follow it daily where as other people feel that they simply do not have the time to be putting on face masks and cleansing / toning their skin morning and night.

One of the most important products you can put on your skin is moisturiser. Over winter the cold air and harsh winds can very quickly dry up your skin leaving it looking tired and work out. This can increase the appearance of ageing and can even make make-up applications look cakey and fake.

Simply removing your make up at night by washing or using a make-up remover and adding a moisturiser can really help knock years off you and give your skin that boost it needs. In the summer you may suffer from dry skin due to the heat and again taking a little time out to moisturise may be all you need to do.

Not every moisturiser will suit every person so it is important to try and find one that is right for your skin. Usually moisturisers will be sold as for oily and greasy skin, combination skin or dry skin. You may have to try a few different brands before you find the one that is right for you.
