Getting rid of brassy tones

If you have blond hair that has been bleached then you may experience brassy tones. All hair has an element of red tones in in and often, when lighting hair it has to go through a red stage to get it to blond. If the bleach is not left on long enough or is not strong enough then you hair may get stuck in a red stage, this can also happen naturally over time.
If you want to get back to that ash / white blond look then there are a few ways in which you can do so. You can have your hair lightened again but this may cause damage to the hair and make it brittle and break off so is not advised to do more than every 4-6 weeks at most. You can have a toner put n which is essentially putting a colour on to the bleached hair to hide the brassy tones, these can work well but often only last a few weeks. There is also the option to use purple shampoos and conditioners, purple is on the opposite side of the colour wheel and therefore counteracts red, using this on a daily or weekly basis works similar to a toner but can be done safely at home.
